Building equipment company Ashi Hire was founded by three brothers – Elzi, Shai and Yuval Schildkraut – in 2004. The brothers previously had experience in this area of business, but started the company from scratch and built it from the ground-up. Fourteen years later, Ashi Hire - located in Port Melbourne - now employs eight staff, with the Schildkraut brothers each operating as co-directors.
“Access equipment is the biggest part of our company,” Director Elzi stated. “Customers know we specialise in this area and they are more than happy with the product they receive from us; whether that is a vertical lift or a scissor lift,” he continued.
On the topic of customers, Ashi also prides itself on invaluable customer service: “We provide great service and our customers appreciate what we do for them,” Elzi said. “We expect good customer service from our suppliers and we supply the same in return,” he went on to say.
Ashi Hire operates a large fleet of machinery from its Port Melbourne facility, but also operates four trucks that are used to transport various machines and other important equipment.
Two of the trucks are Isuzus; one of them is a twin-steer and the other - delivered just a couple of weeks ago - is a 14 ton FSD with a beaver tail and twin ramps. This truck was custom built to the exact specifications that were required by Ashi. The Isuzus, which were sourced and delivered from Westar, have been a hit with the drivers but made the biggest impact on Elzi himself: “Their ease to operate, the smoothness of the drive and overall comfort make them a great truck. In simple terms, the trucks are far better than what we had before,” he explained.
Elzi praises Westar’s service and Dealer Principal Anthony Long in particular. “We have a special relationship with Anthony. He works very well for us and we want to maintain this great relationship we have with him.”
Elzi mentioned a time when he suddenly required a new tilt-tray truck after his previous truck just gave up. He contacted Anthony from Westar, who advised that he had an FYJ 8x4 Twin Steer (manual) that was available. After negotiating with Anthony, Elzi placed an order at 11am but wanted the truck to be ready to take away by the end of the day.
Against all odds, Anthony and the team managed to achieve this ambitious goal, delivering the truck to Elzi at 6:30pm. Elzi was happy – to say the least. “It’s rare to find service like that!” Elzi exclaimed. “The guys at Westar are flexible and motivated to get the job done; they always go the extra mile. That’s why we use them and always come back to them,” he went on to say.
The Isuzu trucks always go back to Westar for maintenance. The Ashi team is particularly pleased with the extended vehicle servicing hours that Westar provides. “Our fondness for their flexible servicing hours is another testament to their excellent customer service. All in all, why would we pick a different brand!?” Elzi concluded.
Isuzu has become a key brand for Ashi. Their reliability ensures the company provides only the very best service to its customers.
